8th June
Greetings KIDS peeps,
Firstly, the debut single 'Two Days' from Sheffield's SILENT FILM PROJECT is released today, on limited 7" and for digital download. The lead track is a slice of indie-pop heaven, and has had great support from Steve Lamacq and John Kennedy as well as a slew of great reviews. A list of stockists is at the bottom of this blog........ They and Defend Moscow (see below) play The Monarch in Camden on Tuesday 9th June - DM on at 8.30pm and SFP on at 10pm....... ---------------------------------------------------
Secondly, news of two bands' 2nd singles:
On July 6th, pan-European electropop band DEFEND MOSCOW release their second single, 'Die Tonight', on lovely blood-red 7", featuring exclusive B-side 'Sign of Life', and digitally, featuring a host of remixes from One Night Stand, Frenchman Project, Pixie, Lenny Picko. It is available to preorder now from our shop: ‘Die Tonight’ explores the thoughts that would go through the minds of people informed that a nuclear attack had been launched, and certain death was minutes away, to the soundtrack of a dancefloor-destroying beat and bassline, and the soaring twin vocals of Jon Beck and Sofie Storaas.
B-side ‘Sign of Life’ continues the dark lyrical theme (sitting by the bedside of someone on life support), accompanied by epic washes of synths and another driving bassline, recalling Depeche Mode, New Order and Brian Eno.
The track has had some great reviews already (check out http://www.whisperinandhollerin.com/reviews/review.asp?id=6170 ) and fantastic reactions from the clubs......it is also going to be one of the NME's 10 Tracks You Have To Hear This Week - watch out for it on Wednesday. A video is also on the way!
-------------------------------------------
Then on July 13th, Stoke rockers NEW EDUCATION return with their hotly-anticipated single 'Another Miracle'. As usual limited to 500x7"s and digital download, the track will be backed with a new track 'Bedroom Song #19' which showcases their more acoustic side.
The track has already been the Hottest Record in the World on Zane Lowe's Radio 1 show whilst also picking up support from Huw Stephens and XFM, and also being featured in NME. Since releasing their debut single in October last year, the band have been on the road non-stop, picking up supports with The Rifles, The Sunshine Underground, The Holloways and Pete Doherty and more to come

Moving on, we are delighted to be announcing the first single release by Sheffield-based Silent Film Project, 'Two Days', on June 8th as a limited 7" and download. 'Two Days' is a summer indie-pop anthem in waiting, shot through with references to youthful exuberance and fun; giddily bouncing along with chiming guitars and the interplaying vocals of Paul Musgrave (vocals/guitar) and Lisa O’Hara (vocals/percussion). B-side ‘Alligator’ keeps up the high standard; both tracks evoking the sounds of The Smiths at their most playful, and Belle and Sebastian at their most melodic.
The band formed in Scunthorpe as a side project of Paul, Tom Dakin (lead guitar) and Phill Vernon (drums)’s previous band, which quickly became their main focus with the addition of Lisa and James Keown (bass) and their subsequent relocation to Sheffield. In the last year, the band have won many plaudits, including winning the Intel Studio competition, based at Proud Galleries in Camden, ahead of thousands of other bands; a victory which led to them signing to KIDS.
In addition, the band have built up a healthy local following, played shows with Alphabeat, The Wombats and Frank Turner and with further touring to come throughout 2009, Silent Film Project are set to be the soundtrack to your summer.
